Riding with Kyle

How One Rider Makes the Most of Advance Transit

Meet Kyle — a longtime rider whose journey with Advance Transit began back in middle school.

Growing up in Norwich, Vermont, Kyle got his first taste of public transit as a student. Today, as a resident of Lebanon, New Hampshire, he still relies on AT to get where he needs to go — from commuting to work at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center to running errands around the Upper Valley.

For Kyle, riding the bus is more than just a convenient way to get around. It’s a lifestyle choice. “I don’t have to worry about traffic, parking, or owning a car,” he says. Whether he’s heading to the grocery store, the gym, or just out exploring, the bus has become his trusty steed.

And Kyle doesn't shy away from adventure — he's made a point to explore nearly every AT route. “One Thursday, just for fun, I rode all but one,” he recalls with a smile.

But what really stands out to Kyle is the community he’s found on board. “You meet a lot of interesting people,” he says. From familiar faces to chance conversations, riding with AT has brought more than just transportation into his life — it’s brought connection.

Kyle’s story is a great reminder of what public transit can offer: reliable, affordable service — and a few unexpected friendships along the way.
