Exploring the Upper Valley on Advance Transit’s Pink Route

Meet the Pink Route, our most recent addition to our AT service! This fare-free service connects Hanover and Lot 9 with frequent weekday trips, and even includes stops at Centerra Park, the River Valley Club, and the Lebanon Co-op Food Stores.

But that’s not all... During peak commuting hours, the Pink Route runs express between Hanover and Lot 9 — perfect for those early morning and late afternoon rides. The rest of the day, it shifts into local mode, offering more stops and connecting with our Blue Route at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Whether you're heading to work, grabbing groceries, hitting the gym, or connecting to another AT line, the Pink Route has you covered.

A Community Collaboration

This new route is the result of our strong partnership with Dartmouth College, designed to meet the growing transportation and parking needs in the Upper Valley. It's all about helping residents, students, and visitors get where they need to go — safely, reliably, and without the stress of parking.

"We’re thrilled to offer this service, " says Adams Carroll, AT Executive Director. “The Pink Route is part of a larger strategy to reduce congestion and competition for parking in Hanover. And our service to Centerra makes key destinations more accessible than ever before.”

One Rider's Return to Transit

Long-time Upper Valley resident John Gilbert knows the value of a good bus route. He used to be a regular AT rider but stopped about five years ago. Now, thanks to the Pink Route, he’s back — riding four times a week, sometimes more!

“I started taking the bus to get to my job at the Co-op,” John says. “It’s just so convenient now.”

John has noticed a lot of changes since his earlier days riding AT. “There are more routes, buses travel farther, and they come more often. I even ride outside of work now, just for errands or fun.”

His experience reflects what we hear from many riders: public transit is safe, easy, and user-friendly. “The drivers are always helpful,” John adds. “They’ll let you know if you’re on the right bus or if another one is coming.”

Fare-Free for Everyone

Like all AT routes, the Pink Route is  completely fare-free. No tickets, no passes, just hop on and ride. This is made possible through the generous support of our community, including:

  • Federal and state funding
  • Contributions from local towns
  • Ongoing support from partners like Dartmouth College and Dartmouth Health
  • Individual donations, sponsorships, and advertising

This collaborative funding model allows us to provide essential transit service while helping to keep local property taxes low.

Ready to Ride?

Whether you're commuting to work, heading to the Co-op, or just exploring the Upper Valley, the new Pink Route makes it easier and more convenient than ever to leave the car behind. And with friendly drivers, clean buses, and frequent service — all for free — there’s never been a better time to ride.

See you on the Pink Route!
