Advance Transit & Bugbee Senior Center Team Up for Transit Education

Building Confidence, Building Community

At Advance Transit, we believe that public transportation is more than just a way to get from point A to point B—it's a way to connect our community. That’s why we were so thrilled to partner with the Bugbee Senior Center back in late August for a special two-part transit education program designed to empower local seniors and better understand the unique transit needs of our community.

Fifteen participants from the Bugbee Center joined us for this hands-on, interactive experience. The program kicked off with a community discussion, where attendees shared their experiences, questions, and hopes for public transit in the Upper Valley. These conversations offered incredibly valuable insight into how we can make our fare-free service even more accessible and welcoming for everyone—especially for those who may be navigating public transportation for the first time or after a long break.

Two weeks later, we hit the road together!

With AT staff on hand to guide the way, participants boarded the bus in White River Junction, Vermont, and rode to Lebanon, New Hampshire. Along the route, we talked through how to read route maps and schedules, where to find key stops, and tips for making the most of our transit system. Most importantly, we got to enjoy the ride and build a little more confidence in the process.

For many, this wasn’t just about learning to ride the bus—it was about gaining independence, staying connected, and knowing that getting around the Upper Valley can be simple, safe, and enjoyable.

We’re so grateful to the Bugbee Senior Center for their partnership and to all of the participants who joined us. Your voices help shape the future of public transit in our region, and we’re proud to serve a community that cares so deeply about connection and accessibility.

Want to get involved or bring a similar program to your organization? We’d love to hear from you! Reach out to Advance Transit and let’s keep the conversation—and the buses—rolling.
