Advance Transit Announces Leadership Transition

Advance Transit (AT), the nonprofit fare-free public transit provider serving communities in Vermont and New Hampshire, announced that Teri Palmer has stepped down from her role as Executive Director with the organization. AT and Palmer have mutually agreed to part ways, and the agency expresses its sincere gratitude for her dedicated service and leadership.

“We appreciate Teri’s contributions to the organization during her time with us and thank her for her commitment to serving our community,” said Rebecca Owens, Chair of Advance Transit’s Board of Directors. “We wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”

The Board has appointed Ashley Manning, the organization’s Chief Operations Officer, to serve as Interim Executive Director effective immediately.

Manning brings nearly a decade of experience with Advance Transit, having joined the organization in 2016 as Maintenance Manager. In 2021, she was promoted to Maintenance, Facilities, and Procurement Manager before advancing to Chief Operations Officer in 2023. She began her career in public transit in 2007 at Green Mountain Transit (formerly Chittenden County Transportation Authority) in Burlington, Vermont, and has built extensive experience in transit operations, maintenance, and organizational leadership throughout her career.

“Ashley’s deep knowledge of AT’s organization, employees, and community make her well-positioned to lead during this transition,” said Owens. “Her longstanding commitment to public transportation and operational excellence gives us great confidence in the future of the agency.”

Manning said she is honored to serve in the interim role and looks forward to continuing the agency’s mission of providing safe, reliable, and accessible transportation services to the community.

Advance Transit remains fully committed to meeting the transportation needs of the region. Daily operations and ongoing initiatives will continue without interruption as the Board begins the process of determining long-term leadership plans. During this transition, the agency appreciates the continued support and patience of riders and community partners as AT staff work together to ensure reliable service and a smooth path forward.

“Our focus is on delivering dependable service for the people who count on us every day,” said Manning. “I’m proud to work alongside such a dedicated team, and I’m confident in our continued ability to serve the community effectively.”
