ANIMALS ON THE BUS
Pets may only be carried on the bus in a carrier.
A Service Animal is defined as an animal that has been trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. Animals whose purpose is to comfort or provide emotional support, companionship, therapy and/or protection are not considered “service animals” and need to be in a pet carrier to be transported on the bus.
The driver may ask you two questions you are required to answer if boarding our bus with an animal not in a carrier:
- Is this animal your service animal?
- What task is your animal trained to do (to help you with your disability)?
YOU MUST HAVE FULL CONTROL OF YOUR SERVICE ANIMAL AT ALL TIMES.
It must not be aggressive. Smaller service animals may sit on the owner’s lap but CANNOT be in direct contact with the seat. Understand that you the owner are legally responsible for the service animal’s proper behavior.
It is against the law to misrepresent your pet as a “service animal”. For further clarification or questions please contact Advance Transit.
